Shiny Darkly // Abgesagt

Little Earth is the culmination of two years of dedicated work. Building on the raw, punky energy of the EP’s, it breaks new land as the band ventures into a sonic landscape of more expansive and atmospheric textures. Thus, the debut album moves between organic noisy post-punk melodies and epic ballads with both string and horn arrangements. It is simultaneously melodic, chaotic and frayed at the edges, evoking a rare blend of icy ferocity and high octane sex appeal. In the words of UK trendsetting blog The Line of Best Fit: "Dark intensity of this calibre is a rare thing: Savages‘ Jehnny Beth has it, Nick Cave has it, Suicide have it and based on the evidence we’ve heard so far, Shiny Darkly’s Kristoffer Bech certainly has it."

Shiny Darkly formed as a band of friends less than three years ago. The trio is Kristoffer Bech (vocal and guitar), Mads Lassen (drums) and Oliver Matthew Volz (bass). Though their average age is only 23, their inspiration draws mainly from 80’s and 90’s post-punk and shoegaze bands, like Joy Division, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen and The Jesus and Mary Chain, as well as further back to sonic innovators like The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, and The 13th Floor Elevators. Recording their debut album, they were left in the safe hands of producer Jesper Yebo Reginal (PowerSolo, 18th Dye, Junior Senior, etc.) and mixer Jens Benz (Iceage, Thulebasen, Goodiepal, etc.).

The band has received enthusiastic reactions from both US and British music media. In addition, the boys gave an appearance on KEXP and were added to the rotation lists at more than 100 college radio stations.
Shiny Darkly is the most recent band to be added to the Crunchy Frog label (The Raveonettes, Junior Senior, 18th Dye, etc). They released their debut EP Shiny Darkly in 2012, after having existed for less than a year. In the fall of 2013 they released the Dead Stars EP. The nine minute long title track from Dead Stars premiered on Clash Music in November 2013. After causing quite a stir with their EPs and numerous electrifying live shows at CMW, Iceland Airwaves, SXSW, Eurosonic, Reeperbahn and Roskilde Festival, they are set to conquer the rest of the world.
